ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar will once again appear before accountability court in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference regarding Avenfield properties against Sharif family today (Monday).

In the hearing headed by Justice Mohammad Bashir, prosecution witness and head of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) Wajid Zia will record his statement before the court. Defense lawyer Khawaja Harris will cross examine him.

During the previous hearing, Wajid Zia told that the team didn’t contact Jerry Freeman directly to confirm the authenticity of trust deed provided by Sharifs in Supreme Court (SC).

“It’s right that unanimously approved questionnaire was sent to Jerry Freeman by JIT”, Zia said in court upon the cross questioning of legal counsel of Nawaz Sharif.

He further added that “JIT contacted Jerry Freeman through a solicitor for the confirmation of Sharif family’s trust deed”.

Moreover, head of Panama JIT told Jerry Freeman confirmed that Hassan Nawaz signed two trust deeds of Nelson and Nescol on January 2, 2006 and Jerry Freeman had signed as witness on the papers. The copies of mentioned papers are available at Jerry Freeman, he continued.

Khawaja Harris asked Wajid Zia that whether you summoned Jerry Freeman to Pakistan with all evidences and documents, the prosecution witness said "no".

The Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia told the court that scrap of steel industry was transferred to Jeddah from Sharjah and not to Dubai.

While answering a question about Gulf Steel Mills, he said that documents suggest that the factory was established in 1978 and its terms were accepted without verification of the contract. Abdul Wahab, a witness of the agreement could not be reached, he added.

Zia said that the JIT holds no document that bears stamp of the top court.

Corruption references were lodged with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Sharif family on order of the top court in Panama case.
