(Web Desk) – The world’s youngest Nobel Prize laureate, Malala Yousafzai, returned to Pakistan on late Wednesday night for the first time since she was shot in the head by Taliban for advocating education for girls in 2012.
Details surrounding her 4-day visit are being kept secret over security concerns. The young activist also met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday and also addressed a gathering at the PM House where an emotional Malala said she still couldn’t believe she was back home adding that it was the happiest day of her life. “For the past five years, I have dreamed of returning to Pakistan,” she said.
Malala has become a global symbol for human rights and a vocal campaigner for girls education. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. She is currently pursuing her studies at the Oxford University.
Many Pakistanis on Twitter were pleased that the young campaigner had returned for the visit with the topic becoming one of the top trends in Pakistan on the social networking website as politicians, activists, celebrities and citizens welcomed Malala back to her country.
