(Dunya News) – Handmade shawls from Thar are unique and famous all over the world for its beautiful bright colours and patterns.
Without electricity or latest technology, these shawls are still made on manually operated special looms with which men weave shawls with their hands.
Captivating people with khaddi shawls for centuries, Thar shawls are woven with yarn obtained from sheep wool. Women too contribute in the making of these shawls.

Pragu Meghwar, a 45-year-old weaver, complains that despite an entire day’s hard work these workers receive less money for the shawls they weave.
This entire village in Thar has small hand-weaving factories of these shawls and all have the same story: they are not paid well by the buyers.

Throughout Sindh, their work is famous and bought in bulk but the condition of these weavers reflects another story.
