PPP puts weight behind Sadiq Sanjrani for Senate chairman

Senate elections will be held tomorrow.

(Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday has put its weight behind Sadiq Sanjrani—and independent senate-elect from Balochistan—for the vacant slot of Senate chairman.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has also nominated Salim Mandviwala against the post of Senate deputy chairman.

While taking to media outside Zardari House in Karachi, Bilawal said that time has arrived to announce the names against the aforementioned posts. He claimed to have gain majority of votes required to win the Senate elections.

Replying to question about number of parties supporting PPP, Bilawal said he wouldn’t answer the question as it would help Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN).

Bilawal accused federation of spending 90pc of country’s budget for uplift projects in Punjab. He said, “It is time to give rights to smaller provinces”.

Talking to media on the same occasion, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bazinjo was all praise for Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto.

Senate elections will be held tomorrow in Islamabad.

In a joint press conference yesterday, Balochistan CM Abdul Qaddus Bizenjo here in Islamabad today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has on Saturday overtly stated to endorse the candidate of Balochistan panel.

Khan stated that he would leave no stone unturned to bar Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) from fielding their candidate as Senate chairman. Khan felicitated Balochistan CM in advance for selection of his candidate for the post of Senate chairman.
