ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan on Saturday questioned the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar about the fine imposed on him over his absence during the formula milk hearing in the Supreme Court (SC)’s Lahore registry.

The CJP responded that Aitzaz’s associate was fined by the court while the related statement was not written in the order.

“I feel that you are in a state of tension,” Aitzaz said to the CJP.

“No, I’m not. Who suggested this to you?” replied the judge. “Your associate showed the influence of your chamber while standing in court. Whoever will do such a thing, then I will not differentiate between a junior and senior lawyer,” he added.

“Being a part of Aitza Ahsan’s chamber does not mean that you can do anything. I will give your fine from my pocket,” asserted the CJP.

The Chief Justice directed to the court staff to submit Rs10,000 to Fatmeed Foundation and give the receipt to Aitzaz Ahsan.

Barrister Zafarullah responded that Aitzaz Ahsan can submit the fine himself as he is a rich man.

The PPP senator said that he also give charity but will not do it in such a way.

A day before, the court has slapped Ahsan with Rs10,000 fine for his request for an unreasonable time extension.
