LAHORE (Dunya News) - Polling process in connection with the by-election for a Senate seat is underway in Punjab Assembly on Thursday.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) backed Dr Asad Ashraf as an independent candidate and Dr Zarqa Taimur of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are contesting for the seat.

The polling will continue till 4pm.

The seat had fallen vacant after disqualification of former PML-N senator Nehal Hashmi.

Talking to media, PML-N candidate maintained that Nawaz Sharif’s stance will be supported in today’s elections. PTI’s Dr Zarqa said that their 30 votes will be heavier on the opponents 300 votes.

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah asserted that those wanting to eliminate PML-N will vanish themselves.
