Ashiana Scheme case: NAB obtains important record of Ahad Cheema

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday has obtained important record of former Director General (DG) of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Cheema in Ashiana Housing Scheme scandal.

Sources told that details regarding mobile phone calls and emails have also been taken while the bureau has also sought expert’s assistance to recover the data.

Cheema was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the MM Alam Road in Lahore over corruption allegations regarding taking 32 kanal land as a bribe. He had not appeared before the NAB despite several summon.

Afterwards, opposition leaders had staged a symbolic walkout in the Punjab Assembly, asking why Cheema was given promotion.

On the other hand, DMG workers also closed their offices on the directives of Additional Chief Secretary Umar Rasool in protest against the detention of Ahad Cheema.

During the meeting with Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif, the officers demanded to release Cheema, saying that if the arrest is necessary then he should be nabbed in proper way.

Earlier, accountability court had handed over Ahad Cheema to NAB on an 11-day physical remand.

During the hearing headed by judge Mohammad Azam, the officer said that Ahad Cheema didn’t cooperate in the investigation and misused his authorities. He further requested the court to hand over the accused on a physical remand.
