KARACHI (Dunya News) – Inspector General of Police, Sindh, AD Khawaja has said that the police need a comprehensive action plan to curb street crimes and terrorist activities in the city.
Speaking at the passing out ceremony of Police Training Center, Razaqabad, IG Sindh told the graduates that all eyes were going to be on them thereon. He advised new recruits to protect the citizens and the state, and not be anyone’s personal servant.
He said that when he came to the police department, he had two dreams: renovation of Sindh police and recruitment on merit. He informed the audience that ever since he came, all recruitments have been on merit and the department has been purged of all those who did not come through proper channels.
Pointing to the nature of the task ahead of the new recruits, he said that the city is among the heavily weaponised in the world. “Apart from that, unemployment and impoverishment are also formidable causes of crime,” he said, “And although stopping the crime is police’s prime responsibility, it is also the responsibility of the citizens to cooperate with the force in apprehending criminals.”
According to academy source, 819 males and 215 female police officers have passed out and joined the police force.
