US effort to put Pakistan on FATF watchlist failed

The FATF meeting in Paris on Tuesday has deferred voting for three months.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Financial Action Task Force (FATF) member states failed to reach consensus on the US-sponsored resolution to place Pakistan on the watch list of countries that financially aid terrorism.

The FATF meeting in Paris on Tuesday has deferred voting for three months and asked APG for another report to be considered in June.

The announcement was made by Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in his tweet on late Tuesday night. He said in his tweet that our efforts paid off as no consensus was reached on US led motion to put Pakistan on watch list during the FATF Paris meeting on Tuesday.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif in his tweet also thanked countries who helped Pakistan.
