Thaw expected as Farooq Sattar hints at joint nominations for Senate
Farooq Sattar said that MQM-Pakistan was going through crisis due to the Senate nominations.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Farooq Sattar has hinted at consensus over nominations for Senate after dramatic turn of events at Bahadurabad. After 6 days of internal rifts, Farooq Sattar has called for general workers conference today to bring the deadlock to an end.
Talking to media after visiting Bahadurabad, Farooq Sattar said that MQM-Pakistan was going through crisis due to the Senate nominations issue that threatens to further deepen the fissures between MQM.
“We are like a family. Those who want to see us fight and self-destruct will be disappointed,” he said “MQM is an institution. People might come and go, but the institution remains, and the MQM will keep raising its voice for the rights of Muhajirs of Karachi.”
He revealed that the real issues were neither Kamran Tessori nor anyone’s ego, rather the problem lied somewhere else.
He referred to Amir Khan’s press conference yesterday wherein he announced not to run for convener again. Farooq Sattar expressed that he had also become emotional after watching Amir Khan weep. He said that their tears should bear fruit and bring them together even if they needed to drop the idea of running in Senate elections. He apologized to Karachiites for the political disturbance and uncertainty caused by the whole affair.
On the other hand, Rabita Committee announced taking the letter it has written to the Election Commission of Pakistan. “The letter seems to have irked Farooq Sattar, so we announce to take the letter back and go to PIB for negotiations.”
Rabita Committee spokesman Kanwar Naveed Jameel said that all the decisions had been taken in Rabita Committee meeting.
