(Dunya News) – With winters approaching in Karachi, sweets shops across the coastal city have been crammed with the traditional carrot pudding – gaajar ka halwa.

Not only is the sight of the warm, red-coloured gaajar ka halwa decorated with dry-fruits mouthwatering, but the locals have named it their favourite winter snack too.

The dish is prepared with carrots cooked in desi ghee, and not only does it look and taste good, but it is nutritious as well. The filling ingredients make the halwa a complete meal. And the delectable gaajar ka halwa is in high demand during the winters because of which it is priced steeply too. Sold at Rs. 500 per kg, the traditional dessert is usually garnished with a variety of dry fruits, and at times, even boiled eggs.
