ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has decided to seek religious scholars’ help to end Faizabad sit-in protest.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today (Sunday). Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, DG ISI, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the military leadership suggested to find peaceful solution of the issue. They assured that army will remain present to protect the government buildings.
During the meeting, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal briefed the participants on operation against protestors. The meeting is reviewing different options to end sit-in protest in the light of Islamabad High Court (IHC) order.
The participants also discussed requisition of armed forces in aid of the civil power under Article 245 of the Constitution.
