28 people sustain injuries in various clashes between police and protesters across Karachi
Police took action around Numaish Chowrangi and Stargate in Karachi
KARACHI (Dunya News) – 28 people have been injured in various clashes between police and protesters across Karachi on Saturday as a backlash for action taken against Faizabad protestors.
Tehreek-e-Labbaik clerics had directed their followers for sit-ins, following the instructions, the protesters reached various places for sit-ins including Super highway, Hassan Square, Saddar, Sohrab Goth, Teen Hatti, Qayyumabad, Hub River road, Shah Faisal colony and various other areas across Karachi.

Worst clashes occurred at Stargate Shahrah-e-Faisal road where police tried to break open the protesters’ blockage by shelling and as a response, the protestors stoned police units and media’s DSNG vans.
The people who were traveling to airport also faced difficulties due to obstruction and police had blocked the road leading to Governor’s house for security reasons. On the other hand, 10 percent of city’s markets were also closed.

Train service has also been suspended due to the protests. The Pakistan express traveling from Cantt station was stopped at Drug road due to ongoing protests on railway track near Malir.
Speaking to the media, SSP Rao Anwar said that Shahra-e-Faisal has been cleared from protesters and ensured that they will not let protesters use it again. He told that many protesters have been arrested. However, he didn’t disclose the quantity of those arrested.
The SSP informed that 2 Police officials including an officer were martyred in clashes.
Rangers DG Major General Muhammad Saeed has directed the rangers to coordinate with the police to contain the situation and ordered them to reinforce the writ of law in Karachi.
