Summary Sharif has offered Singh to jointly tackle the environmental issue.
LAHORE (Dunya News)- Dazed by the toxic haze and consequent criticism, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has penned a letter to his Indian counterpart Amarinder Singh to monitor overall situation and to curtail paddy straw’s burning in the region.
Sharif has offered Singh to jointly tackle the environmental issue.
“You are aware that since the last year, the people of both Indian and Pakistani Punjab are facing the problem of smog during months of October and November. This year the problem has become more aggravated and widespread”, the letter read.

While apprising hefty losses inflicted by smoggy weather on humans and environment, Sharif invited Singh for collective regional cooperation.
“I firmly believe that it is in the interest of people of the both Punjabs to make a collective efforts towards identifying technologies and business methods that may eliminate the need to burn rice-stubble and help control smog formation”.
The spokesperson of Indian Punjab stated that Singh is yet to receive the letter from his counterpart in Pakistan s Punjab. He will reply to it (letter) at a suitable time, he added.
It has become matter of routine that toxic haze cripples daily-life activities in large swathes of both Pakistan and Indian Punjabs during month of October and November with air quality plummeting to new low every year.
