Karachi: Gutka continues to be sold despite ban
Sindh govt has started legislation against Gutka but the sale of the intoxicant continues in Karachi
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Numerous patients of cancer under treatment in Karachi hospitals have courted this fatal disease only because of consuming Gutka. The families of these unfortunate victims have nothing they could do about it now but repent.
From Lyari to New Karachi, Gutka is being sold, either openly or under garbs of something or the other. Sindh government started legislation against those making it, selling it and even consuming it but the sale is still continuing.
The consumer of the intoxicant will be fined up to Rs 100,000 while those selling it can be fined up to Rs 700,000 and might also be jailed. Medical experts believe that it is a good step by the government but there is a clear lack of implementation.
This ban can only be helpful if the law is strictly implemented. Cancer is a fatal intoxicant and only those who have lost some dear one can understand how it can devastate an entire household.
