Summary Constitutional amendment for delimitation becomes an impossible task for the govt
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Heated debate on the issue of delimitation in National Assembly (NA) ended in stalemate as all the political parties agreed on timely election but the conflicts on the issue of delimitations persisted, reported Dunya News.
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) leader Aftab Ahmad Sherpao said that the statements by some ministers regarding delay in elections were troublesome. Naveed Qamar of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said that dialogue was the only way to find a solution of the problem.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari said that the failure of government members to reach NA for the debate on delimitation was an expression of no confidence. Former Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali said that the division of the seats was inadequate.
Speaker Ayaz sadiq told the house that the elections are scheduled to be held in August. He added that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had cleared that a failure to reach an amendment by Novemeber 10 would make them move Supreme Court.
Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah said that it was ECP’s right to move Supreme Court. Speaker suggested a meeting of the parliamentary leaders and not getting up unless issue gets resolved.
