Summary NAB is an institution that must be respected, says Elahi
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former chief minister of Punjab Pervez Elahi has said on Monday that he provided the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) all the information they asked him to in a 1999 graft case and that he would appear before the officials again if asked.
Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) said that NAB is an institution that must be respected which is why he would appear every time he’d be asked to.
PML-Q leaders Pervez Elahi and his brother Chaudhry Shujaat addressed a press conference today at their residence after they appeared before NAB authorities. He claimed that all the information over an 18 years old reference was presented to the officials.
He further said that an assets beyond means reference was filed in NAB in 1999 and the two brothers have appeared at NAB multiple times in this regard. He said that Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif have left no stone unturned during their 10 years of collective rule to pursue the case against them.
However, he claimed innocence that those who are not guilty of corruption walk in at NAB and walk out with a smiling face.
Former Punjab CM said that he does no fear accountability as he has nothing to hide whereas attitude of the ousted premier and finance minister Ishaq Dar is what the nation has seen by now.
He criticized Shehbaz Sharif by questioning the steps taken by him during his multiple tenures ranging to 22 years in the government to better accountability processes in the province.
