Ahsan Iqbal reveals truth behind Pakistani ID card of Chinese man
An image was circulating over social media calling it the after effects of CPEC
(Web Desk) – Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday revealed truth behind the photograph in which a Pakistani identity card was held by Chinese national. The picture was posted by several Facebook pages and Twitter accounts who called it "the after effects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)".
To clear the air, Ahsan Iqbal took to Twitter himself and said that both parents of Feng Lin Cui had naturalised as Pakistani citizens way back in 1989. He highlighted that the act of gaining Pakistani nationality occurred decades before the CPEC and its inception.
“His parents were naturalised as Pakistani citizens in 1989, decades before CPEC was born,” the minister told.

The Chinese man’s father, Hsi Ping Tsui, had become Pakistani citizen in 1989. However, it is worth mentioning that the ID card of 45-year-old Cui was issued on April 24, 2017. In the column of country of stay on his ID card, it says China, Mainland.
Meanwhile, Iqbal chaired a meeting on Digital Pakistan in Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms today. He urged the participants from media and private sector “to provide input which can help government in empowering Pakistan digitally”.
