Accountability court indicts Nawaz Sharif in NAB's Azizia Steel Mills reference

The court has sought testimonies over both cases and directed to hold fair investigation.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ex-prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday has been indicted by accountability court in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference pertaining to Azizia Steel Mill.

During the hearing headed by Justice Muhammad Bashir, Nawaz Sharif sent a representative on his behalf as he is in London for the treatment of his wife. The lawyer further denied the charges.

However, indictment in offshore companies case will be imposed on Friday as the heraing time for today has been ended.

Earlier today, Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar were indicted in the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Avenfield reference against them.

The court has sought testimonies over both cases and directed to hold fair investigation. 

Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in July for not declaring a source of income that he disputes receiving. Pakistan’s top court also ordered a wide-ranging investigation by the National Accountability Bureau and trial of Sharif family members.
