Summary A five-member bench of the apex court is hearing the review petition.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A five-member bench of the Supreme Court will shortly announce its verdict on Sharif family’s review petition against the Panama Papers case judgement.
While presenting his arguments, Salman Akram Raja, the lawyer for Nawaz Sharif’s children, informed the apex court that Maryam Nawaz’s husband Captain (r) Safdar has no link with London flats. He signed trust deed only as a witness.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that JIT report has declared Maryam Nawaz as beneficial owner of offshore firm. The matter should be investigated as she had earlier refused any links with London flats, he added.
Another member of the bench Justice Ijaz Afzal stated that British Virgin Islands had confirmed Maryam as the owner, thus, it won’t be appropriate to say Capt Safdar has no links with these flats.
Meanwhile, Justice Azmat Saeed ensured that there will be no compromise on fair trial and fundamental rights. Our observation won’t create any hurdle for the trial court.
It may be mentioned here that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif filed three separate appeals in the Supreme Court to review its verdict in the Panama Papers case that resulted in his disqualification.
