Punjab to lease 3000 acres of forest land for anti-terrorism centers, oil projects

LAHORE (Dunya News)- Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday approved decision to grant 3000 acres of land to law enforcement agencies to build anti-terrorism centers and to conglomerates for search of oil, reported Roznama Dunya on Wednesday.

For the aforementioned purposes, Punjab govt would grant land adjacent to Central Jail Rawalpindi to the Ministry of Defence. It was also permitted to give land for the establishment of research cum-experimental farm in district Khanewal for Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University Multan.

Renowned analyst told our correspondent that Punjab is already facing stern shortage of forests as only 2pc of Punjab’s area is constituted of forest. The project would bring hazardous consequences against the backdrop of climate changes.
