Summary Former prime minister is going to see his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has left for London today (Wednesday) to see his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz who has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

Nawaz Sharif reached Lahore’s old airport from Jati Umra amid strict security. All routes to the airport were sealed, and security agencies were on high alert. Cellular phones of the staff that was appointed on duty were taken as well.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Asif Kirmani also reached the airport along with others to see off their former party chairman. Nawaz met Shehbaz at state lounge before departing.



It has further been learnt that Nawaz Sharif wanted to board the plane by passing through common people, but was stopped to do so owing to security concerns.

Nawaz will reach London via flight EK-625 of a private airline. According to family sources, he will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with his wife and sons, and will come back to Pakistan on September 5. PML-N will also conduct a rally in west London during his visit.

It is worth mentioning here that doctors are waiting for the results of some important skin and other tests of Kulsoom Nawaz, and her chemotherapy will begin by the end of this week or the start of next.
