ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif denounced India s divergence from Indus Water Treaty, reported Dunya News.

He was addressing a seminar on “Indus Water Treaty: Issues and Recommendations” organised by the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad on Tuesday. Asif said that World Bank should play a just role in resolving the dispute between India and Pakistan.

Foreign Minister said that previous governments didn’t take water crisis seriously. “Water coming from Kashmir is not just India’s property,” he said. He said that maximum water in Indus River comes from glaciers in Pakistan. “We should start using water efficiently to preserve water for our future generations,” he said.

Talking about Pakistan s water vows, Asif said that water is usually used illegally in Pakistan while only 20% is recovered from water bills. “Diamer-Bhasha Dam and other projects related to water and power should be completed on war footing,” he said.
