NAB tasks Irfan Mangi to file reference against Sharif family

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has tasked Balochistan NAB Director General (DG) Irfan Naeem Mangi to file reference against Sharif family in Panama Leaks case.
As per details available, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry presided over key meeting in Islamabad today. NAB officials reviewed Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict in Panama Papers case whereas the NAB chief vowed to implement order in true letter and spirit.
Sources privy to accountability watchdog informed that NAB has finalized strategy pertaining to filing of reference against the ruling family.
It is pertinent here to mention that Irfan Mangi was part of joint investigation team formed on apex court’s order to probe business matters of Sharif family.

In its judgment in the Panama Papers case on July 28, a five-member Supreme Court bench had directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file references against Nawaz Sharif, his children and son-in-law Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar before the Accountability Court within six weeks on the basis of the material collected and referred to by the Joint Investigating Team (JIT) in its report and such other material as may be available with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and NAB.
“In case the Accountability Court finds any deed, document or affidavit filed by or on behalf of the respondent(s) or any other person(s) to be fake, false, forged or fabricated, it shall take appropriate action against the concerned person in accordance with law,” the court stated.

The top court also ousted Nawaz Sharif, bringing his historic third term in power to an unceremonious end and briefly plunging the country into political instability.
