Summary Islamabad urged New Delhi to maintain peace along the working boundary

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh on Thursday to strongly protest against the recent ceasefire violation at the Line of Control (LoC) by India.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), several locals by were severely injured in unprovoked firing initiated by the Indian forces along the working boundary today. The exchange of fire occurred at Battal, Jandrot and Hot Spring sectors in Pakistan’s territory.

Islamabad said in its official statement the firing in Battal sector caused death of one civilian, named Ghizar Ahmed, with four injured including three were women, namely Jamil Khan, Sana, Asma and Fareha. Also, one man was martyred, named Fazal Hussain, and another injured, named Jamil Ahmed, in unprovoked firing at Kotli sector.

While protesting at the firing incident on civilians, Islamabad condemned the act which was against the human dignity and international human rights. “The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed condemnable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws,” it stated.

Director General SA & SAARC Dr. Mohammad Faisal asked the Indian HC to convey message to Indian authorities to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, demanding an investigation against excessive violations along LoC by the neighbouring forces. Islamabad urged New Delhi to maintain peace at the working boundary.
