Summary According to Orange Cab Scheme, one lac cars will be given to unemployed youngsters in 2017

(Web Desk) – Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday that one lac cabs will be distributed amongst unemployed youngsters under the Orange Cab Scheme in 2017. He chaired a meeting to launch Orange Cab Scheme and reviewed suggestions regarding the use of digital system for payments.

While endorsing the digital system for payments, Punjab CM said that it will regulate smooth flow of transactions, facilitate the public and promote a transparent as well as corruption-free culture.



“This system will eradicate attempts of fraud and forgery,” he added while claiming that farmers would also benefit from the digital payments. The system will comprise of E-Cards to provide several services to the users.

Also, Shehbaz Sharif praised the upcoming Orange Cab Scheme initiated by the Punjab Government. He said, “It will increase the employment opportunities in the province. One lac young people will benefit from the scheme which begins from this year.”

In this regard, the Punjab government tweeted, “Government gave 50,000 cars to unemployed youth under Apna Rozgar Scheme.”

“Digitizing the payment method will help curb corruption. Consumers will benefit from several services by using E-Cards,” the official account added.



The Punjab government led by CM Shehbaz is known for such youth-oriented schemes. The popular ones include Laptop Scheme, Yellow Cab Scheme, Self Employment Scheme and others. However, critics point out the  misplaced  priorities, lack of productivity and cash recovery in these projects.
