Summary Vehicles' papers which were found to be counterfeit.
KARACHI (Roznama Dunya) - It has been unearthed that smuggled vehicles are being legalised by illicitly using fake stamps of intelligence agencies. Customs intelligence has initiated probe into the sensitive matter.
Sources revealed that customs intelligence seized two cars during a raid in Karachi’s Defence and asked owners to show legal documents of ownership.
In the meantime, customs officials contacted Excise and Taxation Department for verification of vehicles. When investigated, officials found stamps of Quetta Cantt on vehicles’ papers which were later proved counterfeit.
According to available details, smuggling mafia moves vehicles into Quetta from Afghanistan and prepares their fake documents. These smuggled and illegal vehicles are then sold at relatively higher price.
Earlier, at Al-Hamd yard of Maripur, it was learnt that papers of vehicles which were placed for auction were transferred into smuggled vehicles.
Sources say stern action would be taken against those using smuggled vehicles after verification from departments concerned.
