Summary The reports of Independent Monitoring Unit proved the claims of KP govt wrong
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The miserable situation of schools within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa raises several question marks over the performance of KP government.
As per details, the provincial government had earlier claimed about constructing twelve thousand classrooms, thirteen and a half thousand boundary walls, electricity supply in nine thousand schools and water supply in twelve thousand schools.
Moreover, the provincial government also vowed to construct sixteen thousand bathrooms for primary schools within the province.
However, despite all these claims and vows, even the monitoring teams have proved these facts and figures wrong.
Presently, six percent of the schools are deprived of basic facilities such as bathrooms and water sanitation.
The report revealed by Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) shows that 58 percent of the schools in Kohistan, 32 percent in Thorghar, 27 percent in Mansehra and 25 percent in Shangla are deprived of bathrooms and sanitary situations.
It is pertinent to mention that Rs 20 billon rupees were allocated in provincial budget for the availability of basic facilities to students.
Moreover, the provincial government has also failed to end the ‘tat’ culture within schools in KP.
