The Supreme Court has sought details of the contact from Balochistan government signed with the foreign company to explore gold and silver in Reko Diq. The bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Justice Mohammad Sair Ali, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday is hearing a number of petitions challenging the award of the contract to the TCC a Canadian consortium of Barrick Gold and Antofagasta Minerals for exploring gold and copper in Reko Diq, a small desert town in Chagai district of Balochistan. Provincial chief secretary of Balochistan was presented in the court. CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that it was deplorable that provincial government was not taking any interest in the case. Petitioner Abdul Haq Balochs lawyer Kazim Raza said that contractors didnt know the value of contract made with the foreign company. The case would be heard again tomorrow.
