The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered to arrest prime accused in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) case Amin Qasim Dada, besides action against DG FIA Waseem Ahmed, if proved that he gave refuge to the accused. A three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary heard the suo-moto case the alleged corruption of Rs. 18 billion in NICL. The FIA boss was alleged of giving refuge to the main accused Amin Qasim accused Amin Qasim Dada, a member of the NICL board of directors. During the course of hearing, Justice Ramday remarked that it seemed as if Waseem Ahmed did not know the rules and regulations of investigation for he gave refuge to an accused. He deplored that the accused escape to Dubai after committing big crimes. Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry ordered to take the statement of Investigation Officer (IO) Moazzam Jha regarding the case. The case has been adjourned till February 7. It is pertinent to mention that Waseem Ahmed has also been removed from Hajj corruption investigation on the orders of the SC. On Monday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary remarked that FIA is trying to save the influential people. The issue is of more than Rs. 18 billion and it, therefore, can not be ignored, added CJ. The court also rejected the audit report of the organization and expressed its anger on changing the officers assigned the task of investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, secretary commerce told the SECP controls NICL affairs since 2000.The court suspended the 4-member team of FIA and summoned the interior secretary to present before the bench.
