Summary PTI received funding from US, Middle East, Europe through money laundering, says Babar

LAHORE: (Dunya News, Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Syed Akbar S Babar has on Thursday said that PTI’s stance in the election commission is that they cannot be asked about their funding, reported Dunya News.

Talking to Dunya News program Nuqta-e-Nazar, Akbar S Babar said that PTI received funding from various accounts in the United States and Europe through money laundering, which is already proven now.

“We had founded PTI as a party of change. We had to bring this change from our home of course. It was necessary for this party to have legal funding and transparency. Now this funding was dubious and I had pointed at it in September 2011. I took it up with PTI chairman Imran Khan in writing and this was when he became angry with me”.

“I had filed this case in November 2014. The thing is that PTI has received billions of rupees from the US illegally. Two offshore companies were made for this purpose. There are bank accounts in UK still today where still funds are being collected but they are not declared from ECP. Millions of rupees have come to PTI employees through money-laundering. And all these things are already proven”.

“When I filed the case, ECP examined all the audit reports up till April 1 and they had been submitted by PTI. They wrote in their order that the details of the foreign funding were not presented in the audit reports. ECP instructed PTI to present those details. It’s now been two years”.

“Now PTI’s stance is that ECP cannot hear this case because it hadn’t raised the issue at the time the reports were submitted. ECP says that under the constitution it can raise the issue at any time. Money trail has to be presented”.

Responding to a question, Babar said that he couldn’t be removed from PTI as he is one of the founding members of the party. “We are like the parents of PTI so Imran Khan may suggest removing me from the party but it’s not in his power”, he said.
