Summary Qatar shares strong strategic relations with Pakistan: Emir of Qatar
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa convened a meeting with Emir of Qatar on Wednesday and discussed expansion of defence cooperation, Inter-Services Public Relations reported.
The meeting discussed security situation in the region and expansion of cooperation between the two sides. The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked the army chief for visiting Qatar and attempting to further thicken the ties.
Sheikh said that Qatar shares strong strategic relations with Pakistan. He appreciated Pakistan Army’s efforts to further strengthen forces of Qatar.
He said that sacrifices of Pakistan Army in war on terror and to bring stability in the region are laudable. On the occasion, army chief General Bajwa expressed willingness to further strengthen defence ties in the future and thanked the Emir of Qatar for hosting the delegation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani sought Pakistan Army’s assistance for the World Cup that is to be held in 2018.
He expressed interest in learning off Pakistan’s military experience in defence and security domain.
Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa is on a two-day Qatar tour while Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is touring Kuwait at the moment.
During premier’s visit, Kuwait has lifted six-year-long visa ban on Pakistanis.
