Karachi Police Chief Fayyaz Leghari on Friday alleged three extremist outfits in the killings of doctors, and added that focal persons are assigned the duty to stop such incidents. During a meeting with the members of Pakistan Medical Association, Leghari termed the doctors murder as terrorism and added that such acts would come under anti-terror act. He further informed them that 104 persons have been arrested over the charges of extortion, adding that the gang busted the other night has confessed to the 25 murders in the city. On the other hand Doctors, as announced kept the out-patient departments (OPDs) of the Civil Hospital, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Association (JPMC) and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital closed in protest against the killing of a colleague in Lyari. On Thursday afternoon, Dr Fasih was returning home after performing his duty when two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire upon his car (AHM-569). He was injured in the attack and shifted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.Police said the deceased was hit by three bullets on different parts of his body. He was a resident of Hamid Square, Gulshan-i-Iqbal. He has left behind a widow and children.Police added that Dr Fasih had neither any enmity nor any political or religious affiliation. It seems that he was killed by some Lyari gangsters, one policeman said.According to the policeman, the doctor had refused to treat any gang war suspect, and he was targeted as vendetta.
