ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday submitted a privilege motion against lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mian Mannan, Capt Safdar and others over Thursday’s brawl in the parliament.

The motion signed by 23 PTI MNAs has been submitted in the National Assembly Secretariat.

PTI stated in the motion that PML-N lawmakers physically moved towards the opposition side and took physical aim at PTI MNAs as well as hurling abuses against them during the NA session.

“This attack by the PMLN MNAs led to an outbreak of fisticuff instigated by PMLN MNAs,” the party stated.

The opposition party further alleged that MNA Mian Mannan made obscene gestured with his hand towards the PTI MNAs including women sitting in the front few rows during the speech of PTI Deputy Leader Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

National Assembly on Thursday became a battlefield as a scuffle broke out between the opposition and government lawmakers who exchanged blows and pushed one another.

The brawl broke out when five members from the opposition parties requested Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to submit a privileged motion against the prime minister.

During Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s address in the house, his party lawmakers reportedly indulged in sloganeering against the government.

Ruling PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbasi approached Qureshi and requested him to control his party’s lawmakers.

When the sloganeering continued from the PTI benches, Abbasi again approached Qureshi but could not speak to him as he was intercepted by PTI lawmakers.

PTI lawmakers alleged that Abbasi had passed derogatory remarks against their party chief Imran Khan.

Soon after, the scuffle broke out between the opposition and government members of the house. Video footage showed lawmakers from both sides exchanging blows and pushing one another.
