Families await govt's help as 17 Pakistanis adrift in Egyptian Suez Canal

Summary Egyptian navy has reportedly seized their passports over protest

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least 17 Pakistanis are reportedly adrift in Suez Canal of Egypt while affected families in Pakistan have demanded the government on Tuesday to take necessary steps.

Reportedly, 17-member staff of cargo ship has not been paid salaries for past five months and their passports have also been seized.

Egyptian navy seized their passports over protest while eatables are depleting day by day.

According to the family of Jameelur Rehman in Lyari, chief officer with the crew, they have been suffering for past five months.

Brother of Jameelur Rehman said that the owner on one hand have not paid the victimized crew their salaries and on the other have filed a legal case over accusations of taking the ship hostage.

It is yet to be heard from the government s side that whether embassy in Egypt has been moved
