KARACHI (Dunya News) – Kamran Farooq, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has been taken in custody by paramilitary force on Thursday.
Reportedly, the minister was taken in custody from a temporary residence in North Nazimabad area.
Farooq is wanted in cases over riots that erupted in the metropolis on May 12, 2007. Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) issued arrest warrant of the Sindh MPA numerous times since last year.
In a statement issued today, the political party asserted that MQM’s MPAs had been wrongly involved in legal cases in the past however, all the leaders were always acquitted.
