Massive blaze at Kemari oil tank kills two labourers

Firefighters are battling fire that erupted at an oil tank in Karachi.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - At least two labourers were killed and one injured as fire erupted in an oil tank at Kemari Oil Terminal in Karachi today (Saturday).
Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have engaged several fire tenders to extinguish the blaze.
Bodies and the injured person have been shifted to Karachi’s Civil Hospital.
Earlier on November 1, fire at an oil tanker at the Gadani yard in the southwestern province of Balochistan claimed lives of more than 25 labourers and injured around 50 people.
The contractor for the tanker work was arrested and all shipbreaking at the yard banned while safety standards are being reviewed.
Industrial accidents are common in Pakistan, with workplaces often forgoing basic safety measures and equipment in the absence of legislation to protect labourers.
A devastating fire at a textile factory in Karachi killed 255 people in 2012.
