RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Authoriries in Rawalpindi removed all containers from roads leading to Lal Haveli, the residence of Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid, on late Friday night and cleared the roads for traffic, Dunya News reported.

The containers were placed on Thursday night to prevent AML to hold a public meeting in front of Lal Haveli after the government had imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Earlier, clashes erupted between police and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami Muslim League at the Committee Chowk when police stopped the PTI and AML workers to march toward Lal Haveli to attend the public meeting.

Police also used tear gas shells and detained hundreds of protestors to stop them from advancing towards Lal Haveli whereas PTI and AML activists pelted stones at the baton-carrying police.
