Privatization of edu institutes: Students protest enters third day
The students protest against the privatization of educational institutes by the Punjab government has entered the third day, Dunya News reported on Friday. However, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif invited the teachers and students to hold negotiation over the issue and assured redressal. Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, students boycotted the academic process and staged a protest rally. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and its decision to privatize the institutes. Charged students pelted stones at the cars and also threw a motorcycle of a cop into the canal. Students of Government Municipal Degree College blackened the portrait of provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah, while the teachers of the same institute refuse the alumni status of the minister. The police resorted to tear-gas shelling and baton-charged the students to disperse them and avert their violent acts. There was also witnessed an exchange of hot words between the professors and policemen. Also, students in Multan, Vehari, Mian Channu and other parts of the province held protest demonstration.
