The government has suspended all the directors of the power generating and distribution companies (DISCOs), Dunya News reported on Monday. According to a notification released by the federal ministry of water and power the suspension of the board of directors is a part of power sector reforms while the new board of directors would be selected in light of the recommendations of the reforms committee constituted by the federal cabinet very soon. The new directors would be selected from the power generating companies, distribution companies and also from the public sector. A total of 8-10 member board would be selected in this regard. The notification also reveals that no minister or secretary of any ministry would become member of the board of directors. Also the office of the Chief Executive and the Chairman of the board of directors would be separate. Not more than one executive would be nominate for being member of the board from concerned ministry or division.
