LHC CJ downgrades 10 judges to OSD rank upon poor performances
No place for judges who fail to provide timely justice to litigants: Justice Mansoor
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Mansoor Ali Khan on Friday downgraded 10 judges to Officer on Special Duty (OSD) rank upon displaying poor performances, reported Dunya News.
Earlier, while giving an ultimatum, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had warned the judges to improve their performances or to leave judiciary and join other offices. The said ultimatum expired today (Friday) as the Chief Justice took action against the judges during a meeting held in order to review the performances of the judiciary subordinate to Punjab.
Ten civil judges were downgraded by the CJ to OSD ranks by the approval of the executive committee after their performances were deemed poor. However, 74 judges were promoted as a result of putting up good performances.
According to the notification, 37 senior civil judges were promoted to the ranks of senior civil judges whereas 37 civil judges were promoted to the ranks of senior civil judges.
Lahore High Court Chief Justice stated that there was no place in the judiciary for the judges who fail to provide timely justice to the litigants.
