General Manager Pakistan Railways Ashfaq Khattak has sent a summary to the federal government stressing 20 percent raise in train fares, Dunya News reported on Monday. The GM said that if the fares are not raised, it would become hard for the Pakistan Railways to continue the train operations. Earlier, Pakistan Railways has offered Korea to launch trains for 5 regional routs under the open access policy, Dunya News reported on Monday. Representatives of Korean Railways called on General Manager Railways Ashfaq Khattak and proposed assistance in train service. Talking to media, the GM said that Korea would provide training assistance to Pakistan regarding infrastructure, rolling stock. Besides, Korea would also launch experimental pilot project comprised of 6 engines, the success of which would lead to purchase accord of other engines. Korea would likely to kick off trains on the following routes: Lahore-Faisalabad-Gujranwala, Lahore-Gujrat, Lahore-Kasur, Raiwand-Wahga-Lahore.
