Hajj scam: Gilani reins in Kazmi, Swati

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday directed Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi to not to send Rs100million compensation notice to Azam Khan Swati over corruption allegations during Hajj operation. The Premier rung both the ministers and ordered them to stop giving remarks against each other in media regarding the Hajj arrangements. Gilani also directed Hamid Saeed Kazmi, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, to meet him as soon he reached home and give him a comprehensive report vis--vis Hajj. The PM lamented that pilgrims sufferings during Hajj brought bad name to the country, adding that whoever is involved in the scam. Earlier, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi was to send a compensation notice of Rs100million to Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, over corruption allegations by the latter on the former regarding huge embezzlement during Hajj operations, Dunya News reported on Monday. Swati alleged Kazmi of committing huge embezzlement during Hajj operations. Today, Kazmi sent compensation notice worth Rs100million to Swati for defaming him. Kazmi called upon Azam Khan Swati to either provide evidence or give him compensation.
