The Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has promoted 23 brigadiers to the rank of Major Generals. According to the military sources, the decision was taken in the meeting of the Army Promotion Board held at the GHQ under the chairmanship of COAS Gen Kayani. The personnel who are promoted include Iftikhar Wyne, Naveed Mukhtar, Sadiq Ali, Ijaz Shahid, Maqsood Abbasi, Farhan Javed Bukhari, Amir Azim Bajwa, M Iqbal Aasi, Tariq Ghafoor, Abid Nazir, Arif Warraich, Zafar Iqbal, Anwar Ali Haider, Sajjad Rasool, Shahid Baig Mirza, Tauqeer Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed, Akhtar Waheed, Salman Ali and Muhammad Ahmed.
