Federal Minister for Law Babar Awan on Sunday claimed that only the rich are being brought into the tax net. Talking to media after sending a truckload to the flood victims in Rawalpindi, the minister said that the Centre would help Punjab government if it is short of funds to help the flood victims. Babar accused the Punjab government of double standard regarding levying of tax. He deplored that of the 18 crore people, only 1.8million pay the tax. Replying to a question, the minister said that the government has managed to send around 2.5million people back to their homes within 25 weeks.
