It is agreed in the key meeting of Judicial Commission (JC) that Justice Ijaz Chaudhry would be appointed as Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Dunya News reported on Saturday. The meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to discuss the appointment of judges in the higher courts. It was unanimously decided by 11 members of the commission to appoint Justice Ijaz Ch. as CJ LHC because Justice Khawaja Sharif will retire on December 8. Justice Ijaz is the senior most judge after Justice Khawaja Sharif As per 18th Amendment, the Parliamentary Committee will give a final nod over Justice Ijazs appointment but the 8-member committee has not yet constituted. After parliamentary committee's approval, the summary of Justice Ijaz's appointment would be sent to President Zardari. Final notification would be issued after President's approval.
