LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Police has decided to promote officials through departmental promotion boards who were demoted earlier by a court’s order, reported Monday.
Sources privy to the police stated that directives in the matter have been issued to all regional police officers and Capital Police Officers by the Inspector General of Police, Mushtaq Sukhera.
According to the directives, a meeting of the board will be called and in the first phase, promotion cases of ranks ranging from constables to sub-inspectors will be entertained.
Promotions of inspectors and officials on higher ranks will also be finalised within this month, sources said.
The development has surfaced after Supreme Court had demoted over 10,200 police officers for getting out-of-turn promotions.
However, the department has initiated a process of promoting those officials through proper channel.
