Five dead as ice factory's roof collapses due to boiler blast in New Karachi
The locals rescued the victims and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least five people were killed while two others sustained severe injuries as roof of a ice factory collapsed due to boiler blast in New Karachi today (Monday).
The incident took place near Saba Cinema when a roof of an ice factory caved in as its boiler exploded, entrapping workers under the rubble.
The local residents rescued the victims and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where three employees have been reported to be dead.
Police and Rangers personnel also arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the matter. The rescue process also faced delay due to inefficient performance of district government however, heavy machinery was called at personal level.
The officers also became angry over newsmen’s questions regarding delay in the operation.
On the other hand, Ammonia gas of the factory has spread in the area and irked the natives.
