PM advises President to reduce prison sentences ahead of Eid

Summary Prison sentences of women imprisoned along with children will be reduced by 1 year: PM House

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday requested President Mamnoon Hussain for reduction in prison sentences of the prisoners on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Prisoners involved in terrorism and other serious crimes will not be included in the recommendation, reported Dunya News.

According to PM House spokesperson, prison sentences of women imprisoned along with children will be reduced by 1 year, male prisoners with an age of 65 years and females prisoners with an age of 60 not involved in serious crimes will be spared of their penalties.

The sentences of the prisoners who had completed 1/3 of their sentence and were younger than 18 years of age, will also be waived off. PM had also recommended President a reduction of 90 days for those convicted of life sentences.
