Assistant Commissioner, Samiullah was injured as police-locals clashed

SWABI (Dunya News) – Enraged locals have shut Swabi-Jehangira Road for all kinds of traffic as part of protest against long durations of power outages in holy month of Ramazan, reported Wednesday.

Police resorted to baton-charge and aerial firing to disperse the protesters however, retaliation by the locals injured Assistant Commissioner, Samiullah of Chota Lahore area.

According to the locals, they are facing 15-hour long power outages on daily basis while whatever voltage the area is being supplied is insufficient.

Protesters have warned the administration of continuing protest until they are relieved of the suffering.



Peshawar Electric Supply Company stated that increased shortfall is leading to long hours of power outages.

It should be mentioned here that Federal Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali had asserted that there would be no load-shedding during Iftaar and Sehri timings during Ramazan while overall supply would be bettered as well.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had issued directives from London to ensure electricity supply during Ramazan.

The premier is in London, recovering after an open-heart surgery.
